terms & conditions
Last updated: 25 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the Rosie’s Way Equine Therapy website and provide general conditions relating to our services.
Additional service agreements, programme proposals, consent forms, safety requirements or ACC conditions may apply to particular services. Where there is any inconsistency, the terms specifically agreed for that service will take priority over these general website terms.
In these Terms, “Rosie’s Way,” “we,” “our” and “us” refer to Rosie’s Way Equine Therapy. “You” refers to a website visitor, client, participant, parent, guardian, group organiser or organisation using or arranging our services, as applicable.
About Rosie’s Way
Rosie’s Way provides services including:
• One-to-one equine-assisted therapy
• Eligible ACC-supported psychology services
• Sessions for children and young people
• Adult group and retreat experiences
• Workplace and team wellbeing sessions
• Custom-designed programmes for groups and organisations
Services are based in Whangārei Heads, Northland, unless otherwise agreed.
General website information
The information on this website is provided as a general introduction to Rosie’s Way and its services.
It is not intended to:
• Provide individual psychological or medical advice
• Diagnose or treat any condition
• Replace an assessment by an appropriately qualified professional
• Confirm that a particular service is suitable for you
• Guarantee eligibility for ACC or other funding
• Create a psychologist–client relationship
• Confirm a booking or programme
You should seek appropriate professional or emergency assistance for advice relating to your individual circumstances.
Enquiries and bookings
Submitting an online form, sending an email or speaking with Rosie’s Way does not automatically create a booking, guarantee acceptance into a programme or establish a psychologist–client relationship.
Before accepting an individual or group booking, Bronwen may need to discuss:
• The reason for the enquiry
• The needs and goals of the individual or group
• Suitability of the proposed service
• Consent and confidentiality
• Health, accessibility and safety considerations
• Group size and participant requirements
• Referral or funding arrangements
• Programme format, timing and cost
A booking is confirmed only when Rosie’s Way has accepted it and any required agreement, consent, deposit or payment requirements have been completed.
Rosie’s Way may decline an enquiry or recommend another service where it considers that the proposed service would not be appropriate, safe or within its professional scope.
Individual psychological services
Individual psychology and equine-assisted therapy services are provided subject to a separate informed-consent process.
Before services begin, Bronwen will explain matters such as:
• The proposed nature and purpose of the service
• The roles and responsibilities of those involved
• Confidentiality and its limits
• Record keeping
• Fees and payment
• Cancellation requirements
• Communication between sessions
• Referral, ACC or funding arrangements
• The person’s right to ask questions or withdraw consent
No particular therapeutic outcome can be guaranteed. People respond differently to psychological and equine-assisted approaches, and progress may depend on many individual circumstances.
ACC-supported services
ACC-supported services are available only where the person, referral and proposed service meet the applicable ACC requirements.
References to ACC on this website do not mean that:
• Every Rosie’s Way service is funded by ACC
• Every person will be eligible for ACC support
• ACC will approve a particular treatment or cost
• Group, retreat or workplace services are ACC-funded
Any funding, referral, approval, surcharge or payment arrangements will be explained before the relevant service begins.
Group, workplace and retreat services
Group, workplace and retreat programmes are designed following discussion with the organiser.
A written proposal or confirmation may set out:
• The purpose and scope of the programme
• Dates, times and location
• Minimum and maximum participant numbers
• Fees, deposits and payment dates
• Responsibilities of the organiser
• Participant information and consent requirements
• Accessibility and health and safety considerations
• Confidentiality expectations
• Cancellation or postponement arrangements
• Wet-weather alternatives
• Any agreed follow-up or reporting
The organiser is responsible for supplying accurate information and ensuring that participants receive relevant programme, clothing, consent and safety information.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, a group or workplace wellbeing session is not individual psychological treatment or an assessment of any participant.
Confidentiality in group settings
Participants may be encouraged to respect the privacy of others and not repeat personal information shared during a group session.
However, Rosie’s Way cannot control or guarantee the conduct of every participant outside the session. Group organisers and participants should carefully consider what personal information they choose to share.
For workplace programmes, any feedback or reporting provided to the organisation will be discussed and agreed in advance. Rosie’s Way will not ordinarily provide an employer with an individual participant’s personal disclosures or psychological information without informed consent, unless disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Working with horses
Rosie’s Way activities involving horses are generally ground-based. They are not horse-riding lessons and do not ordinarily involve riding.
Horses are living animals with their own responses and behaviour. Although reasonable care is taken to manage activities safely, interaction with horses and participation in an outdoor environment can involve risks.
Possible risks may include:
• A horse moving unexpectedly
• Being stepped on, nudged, bitten or kicked
• Slips, trips or falls
• Uneven, muddy or slippery ground
• Gates, fences, equipment and other farm hazards
• Weather and changing outdoor conditions
• Allergic reactions, dust or animal-related sensitivities
• Emotional discomfort arising during a reflective or therapeutic experience
These examples are not an exhaustive list.
Rosie’s Way will provide relevant safety guidance, supervision and activity boundaries. Participants must follow all reasonable instructions given by Bronwen or another authorised facilitator.
Nothing in these Terms excludes Rosie’s Way’s responsibility to provide services with reasonable care and skill or limits any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Participant responsibilities
Participants must:
• Follow reasonable safety and facilitator instructions
• Treat the horses, other animals, property, staff and other participants respectfully
• Wear suitable clothing and fully enclosed footwear
• Advise Rosie’s Way of relevant health, mobility, allergy, accessibility or safety requirements
• Refrain from entering restricted areas or approaching horses without permission
• Avoid behaviour that could place themselves, another person or an animal at risk
• Attend free from the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs
• Take reasonable care for their own safety and that of others
A participant may be asked to stop an activity or leave if their behaviour creates a safety, welfare or wellbeing concern. Whether a refund applies will depend on the circumstances.
Consent and choice
Participation in an activity involving a horse should be based on informed and ongoing consent.
A participant may ask questions, pause or decline a particular activity. Bronwen may adapt or discontinue an activity where she believes this is appropriate for the safety or wellbeing of the participant, other people or the horses.
Choosing not to complete a particular activity does not automatically entitle the participant or organiser to a refund where the session and appropriate alternatives remain available.
Children and young people
A parent, guardian or appropriately authorised person may need to consent to services involving a child or young person.
The precise consent requirements will depend on the young person’s age, understanding, circumstances and the nature of the service.
Parents, guardians and organisers must provide accurate information relevant to safe participation and comply with any supervision, collection or attendance arrangements agreed with Rosie’s Way.
Animal welfare
The welfare of the horses is central to Rosie’s Way.
Rosie’s Way may alter, pause or end an activity if a horse shows signs of discomfort, stress, fatigue or unwillingness to participate. Where possible, an alternative horse or activity may be offered.
Participants must not chase, strike, frighten, feed or handle a horse except as directed.
Accessibility and suitability
Rosie’s Way will make reasonable efforts to understand and accommodate accessibility needs.
As activities may take place outdoors and around paddocks or farm-style environments, some terrain or facilities may not be suitable for every person or mobility requirement.
Please discuss accessibility, sensory, cultural, health or communication needs before confirming a booking so that suitability and reasonable adjustments can be considered.
Clothing and personal belongings
Participants should wear clothing suitable for outdoor conditions and fully enclosed, secure footwear.
Rosie’s Way may postpone, modify or prevent participation in an activity if footwear or clothing creates a significant safety concern.
Participants remain responsible for their personal belongings. Rosie’s Way is not responsible for loss or damage except where caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Fees and payment
Fees, deposits and payment dates will be advised before a booking is confirmed.
Unless otherwise stated:
• Prices are in New Zealand dollars
• Prices excludes GST
• Payment is due 48hr prior to appointment
• Group or custom programme deposits are non-refundable and discussed with Rosie’s Way
• Any approved additional expenses will be discussed before they are incurred
Where a third-party funder is involved, the client or organiser remains responsible for any fees not covered by that funder, provided those fees have been explained and agreed.
Rosie’s Way may pause future services where an account remains overdue, subject to professional obligations and any applicable funding arrangement.
Cancellations by individuals
If you cannot attend an appointment, please give as much notice as possible.
The cancellation policy for individual appointments is:
• More than 48 hours’ notice: no cancellation fee
• Between 24 and 48 hours’ notice: 50%
• Less than 24 hours’ notice or failure to attend: incurs full fee charge.
A cancellation fee may be waived where Rosie’s Way considers that exceptional circumstances apply.
ACC or another funder may not cover cancellation or non-attendance charges. Where this occurs, the client may be responsible for the charge if this was explained before services began.
Group and programme cancellations
Cancellation and postponement conditions for group, workplace, retreat and custom-designed programmes will be included in the relevant proposal or booking confirmation.
Unless another written policy is agreed:
• The required deposit is 10% of full charge
• Cancellation more than 14 days before the programme: full refund less 10% deposit
• Cancellation between 13 and 7 days: 50% refund
• Cancellation with less than 7 days notice is non-refundable.
• Reasonable costs already committed to external providers may remain payable
Any cancellation charge will reflect the circumstances, notice provided and reasonable costs or losses resulting from the cancellation.
Weather, horses and circumstances beyond our control
Outdoor conditions and horse welfare may affect whether a session can proceed as planned.
Rosie’s Way may modify, postpone or cancel a session because of:
• Unsafe or unsuitable weather
• Ground or property conditions
• Horse health or welfare
• Facilitator illness or unavailability
• Natural disaster, emergency or road closure
• Another event beyond reasonable control
Where Rosie’s Way cancels a service and cannot offer a suitable alternative date or format, any amount paid for the undelivered service will be refunded, subject to applicable law and any agreed third-party costs.
Rosie’s Way is not responsible for a participant’s unrelated travel, accommodation or other expenses unless expressly agreed in writing.
Photography and recording
No participant, organiser or visitor may photograph, film or record another participant, a therapy session or confidential group discussion without prior permission from Rosie’s Way and everyone identifiable in the recording.
Rosie’s Way will obtain separate permission before using identifiable photographs, recordings, testimonials or participant stories for marketing or promotional purposes.

You may view and print website material for personal, non-commercial use.

Rosie’s Way aims to keep website information accurate and available but does not guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted, error-free or completely current.
The website may contain links to third-party websites or social-media platforms. These links are provided for convenience and do not mean that Rosie’s Way controls or endorses all content, products or services available through them.
Your use of an external website is subject to that provider’s terms and privacy practices.

Consumer rights
Services supplied to consumers in New Zealand are subject to statutory protections, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986 where applicable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any legal right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

Depending on the nature of the concern, you may also have the right to contact an independent body such as the Health and Disability Commissioner, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, ACC or the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
Information about the appropriate complaints process can be provided on request.
Changes to these Terms
Rosie’s Way may update these Terms and Conditions when its services, systems or legal obligations change.
The current version will be published on this website with the date it was last updated.
Changes will not retrospectively alter the terms of an already confirmed service unless agreed or legally required.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Any dispute will be dealt with under New Zealand law and through the appropriate New Zealand courts, tribunals or complaints processes.
